Toilet, potty, think tank, throne, whatever you like to call it. To Austin it is the black hole, vortex of terror, which at any moment could suck you into it and go the way of the "poopy". Ahhhh what are we to do?? How, I might ask do you get a stubborn almost 3 year old to use the "big boy toilet"??? That is my question.
So to all you seasoned mothers out there, or anyone who has any good ideas or strategy on how to go about this monumentally frustrating task, I would LOVE any advice.

Beat him! Not really, I feel like a potty training moron too. Mia was harder then Max. With Max I took him to the store and had him pick out one toy that he wanted. He picked Buzz light year. He got to play with it every time he went potty. As soon as he wasn't playing with it, I would put it on top of the fridge and would let him have it again when he went potty again. Worked pretty good for him. You could try it. With Mia we used potty gum, because she loves gum. She would get it only when she went. Good luck! Potty training could be the worst thing ever. I don't envy you.
Okay - Gavin definately BROKE ME IN as a potty training mom. I started training around two and a half and he really didn't "get it" until he was almost four. (Then relasped for late until almost 5!) It was a nightmare to be potty training for almost two years. Now with Taylor - he's three next week and not really interested and I don't even care. It was such an ordeal stressing about it all the time - when in reality I just should have waited with Gavin until he was really ready. My advice is that it absolutely doesn't matter what book you read, approach you follow, technique you use - the biggest thing that will affect a successful outcome is them just wanting to do it. And you can't teach that. Instead of stressing daily about Taylor possibly being the last of his friends potty trained - I am going to give myself a break! I don't care!!! He'll do it when he's ready!!! and when he does - it won't take two years - it'll be two months. Agh - what a relief!!!!
