Mr. Fisher

This handsome little man has been in fishing class for the last 3 weeks. He has had a blast! He asked me the other day what an outdoors man is? So I told him it was someone who loved the outdoors. Someone who loves to fish, hunt and camp, and knows a lot about it. He then told me that he wants to be an Outdoors man....I told him, that I think he already is. Oh, he is cute isn't he??

"Happy Birthday to you!"
Opening gifts. I love the look on her face in these pictures

Happy Birthday to my Lily!
This little girl could not have been more excited for her Birthday this year! Every single day in March, when ever any commercial came on for a toy, she would say,"I want that!! For my Birthday!!" which sounded more like birfday! She decided that this year, she wanted a Princess Party? Surprise, surprise! She LOVES princesses (especially Disney Princesses), and I love princesses (especially Disney Princesses), so you see how well we get along :) I am absolutely indulging her love. I know, that this sweet little phase is so short. So if she wants to wear a princess dress all day, so be it.
Here are some things about our little Lily:
1.She loves and is a Princess!
2. She LOVES Shoes. Especially princess shoes.
3. She loves playing outside. She LOVES the swing set and trampoline, and can play outside all day long.
4. She is one of the most grateful little people I know. Always says thank you, and not just thank you, but thank you so so so much!! Usually followed by I LOVE it!
5. Loves her big brother, and he is her her best friend.
6. She is most definitely a Daddy's girl. Which I just love.
7. She doesn't eat hardly anything! Which has been a real challenge for mom!
8. She LOVES chocolate. Like LOVES it. She says mom, I NEED some chocyet.
9.She is still just tiny. She only weighs 27 pounds at 3 years old, and is as tall as her 1 year old cousins.
10. She is a ray of sunshine in our lives. She always brings a smile to our faces, and makes the day so much brighter and happier!
Lily you are so blessed to have so many wonderful people in your life who love you! Your family is so amazing and supportive. I wish so much that you could have met your Great Grandma Matthews. I know she would have loved you unconditionally. I am also so sad at this time, that the Great Grandma that you are named after, who could be in your life has chosen not too.
Know that you are loved by the people who matter the most! You are an amazing blessing in our lives. You have improved every aspect! Every single day I tell my Heavenly Father thank you for letting us have you! My Little Angel Lily!!

S-L-I-M-E....

Sometimes you need a break. On Friday I surprised Austin by giving him a day off from school. We headed off the the craft store to buy all the ingredients for slime. It was a really fun, and a really cool experiment.
And what else do you do with slime BESIDES have it drip like snot from your nose? (well, throw it across the kitchen to watch it splat on the floor was another idea, until mom realized what you were doing :) It took some coaxing to get Lily to touch it, but as you can see she warmed right up to it, and had to copy her super awesome big brother.

Feeding the birds

We made bird feeders over at Grandma Burr's house the other day. It was messy fun! Did the birds like their treats? We'll never know. It decided to rain and snow, and rain and snow some more the day after we hung them. Bread+water makes for mush. Whats the chances right? It hasn't snowed all winter, until we do a project that shouldn't get wet :)

Lip Gloss

This is what I saw after running upstairs to start Lily's bath today. Apparently we have been putting lip gloss on all wrong. It doesn't just go on your lips, but all the way around them, and down on your neck too. And what are you to do when it gets on your fingers? Wipe them off on the whole roll of T.P. that's what. On a positive note, it is a nice shade of hot pink...don't cha' think? *lipglossisnowhiddenunderthesink*

Look who lost a tooth!!

This handsome boy lost his first tooth!! That little wiggler popped out on January 14th 2012. Austin was super brave and pulled it out all by himself. The tooth fairy was pretty sneaky, and left him 5 crisp one dollar bills, since it was his first tooth and special. (well first tooth that fell out on its own anyway:)
Would someone pleeeassssse tell him to stop growing up so fast??
Love you Aust!!

This Christmas season we went to the Festival of Lights! All the kids and some lucky dads got to sit in the back of Grandpa Burr's truck. If that isn't cool, I don't know what is.

Austin got a Coon skin hat. He put it on first thing Christmas morning, and has had it on ever since. Except to sleep, bathe and school, but then it goes right back on. Oh I couldn't be happier!
Christmas Eve we had meat fondue. Lily of coarse, ate "noodle Soup." Since that is her main staple. She might starve if it weren't for Top Ramen....(gag)
mmmm.....fried steak
in the pot..nothing says Christmas eve like boiling hot oil.
A blurry picture of the whole gang...excluding the camera girl.
We made my moms best caramel popcorn you will ever eat in your whole life, caramel popcorn.
We made Gingerbread houses! Our dapper gentlemen, well, dapper gingerbread gentlemen. Those are an Austin original.
The whole house
We watched A LOT of Christmas movies...Lily watching the Polar Express
Ho ho ho! Grandpa made our Santa with a beard of white.
Twinkle the elf came on Christmas eve and brought some books to read.

Exchanging family gifts (The after)
The Before

I LOVED Christmas this year. LOVED it. I put our tree and decorations up early, like the week before Thanksgiving early. We watched our favorite Christmas shows everyday. Listened to Christmas music and mostly ONLY Christmas music everyday. And when it came time to take it all down, I was absolutely NOT ready. I'm not sure why this Christmas was so different. I always love Christmas, but this year, I was soooo into the Spirit of Christmas. I couldn't even read a Christmas book, religious or not, with out tearing up. One part that really hit me hard this year, was the song Silent Night. We talked about it in my Primary class, and it really painted the picture for me of how that first Christmas really was. And the peace and quite, and the calm that must have been felt. And the wait to see the star, after so many years knowing it would be there, but still waiting. Then to finally see it shining so bright. I just cant even imagine the joy and how that felt to know that the Savior had been born. I love this verse from one of my (many) favorite primary songs I have learned since serving in the primary.
Hosanna Hosanna oh let us gladly sing, how blessed that our Lord has come, let Earth receive her King.
I also loved the magic of Christmas this year. Seeing it in my kids eyes is priceless. There is nothing better then being a child at Christmas time. I love the magic that Santa brings, the anticipation, and the pure joy of seeing that pile of gifts under the tree. Christmas was always a truly magical experience in my home growing up, and I am doing everything I can to give my children that magic. It is something that I still hold in my heart, and will always keep it there.
Then there is spending time with our families. It was so much fun to surround myself with all the people I love the most. My family has grown so much this last year. With all we have lost, we have gained 100 times in the love, joy, pride and closeness that we have gained. 2011 you were a wonderful year!!
