You and me going fishing in the park....

This is our recent discovery. This cute little fishing hole is 5 min. from our house. They stock it with fish, and we have the secret bait, that keeps em' biting, long after you are ready to go home. This trip we managed to catch 8. That is in a 30 min. period! The other day we went with my sister and her kids, and the total for that day was around 20. Austin loves it, he gets to reel all the fish in, and throw them back once they have been de-hooked. There are also lots of ducks to feed, and acorns to pick up. What a treat!

Hee Haw!

Making corn angels

Austin's toddler class got to go to Hee Haws the other day. He had so much fun. There was a corn box, a giant 1,200 pound pig, hay rides, giant slides, haunted houses and much more. It was a fun day.

The zoo, and a cookie recipe!

So I don't have any pictures to blog (thanks to my mommy pregnant brain, forgot my camera) but we have had a fun past week. My sister Jodi was in town, so we have spent a lot of time hanging out. On Monday, we, my cute sisters, nieces, and nephews and mom went up to the zoo. It was an absolutely PERFECT day for the zoo. It was sunny, but not hot, not crowded at all, and all the animals were eager to show themselves off. We saw animals that the zoo claimed to have in those cages, but had never actually seen. For example the Gray Wolf, the Cheetah, the Tiger, and the Mountain Lions. The Rhinos came right up to the glass to say hello, and so did the Gorilla's and Orangutan. It was fun and we could not have asked for a better day.

On a completely different note......My mom gave me this recipe for the easiest pumpkin cookies ever, and they are absolutely delicious!

1 Spice cake mix
1 15 oz can of 100% pure pumpkin
Chocolate chips (as much as you want)
Mix together
spoon onto greased cookie sheet
bake @350 degrees for 10-12 min

That is it. Try them out, you will be glad you did!

The thoughts of a 3 year old.....

Me: Austin if you try a piece of this steak, I will make you baby cookies. (refrigerated cookie dough)
Austin: (looking at the meat) ummm, no thank you.
At this point you can tell he is thinking about it.
Austin:OK I will taste that. (pointing to my rice)
I give him a tiny bite
Austin: OK! Make baby cookies
Me: No, you have to taste the meat.
Austin: OK. (so i give him a tiny, tiny piece. He eats it and with his hands in the air says.....
Austin : I TASTED THE COW OWEEE!!! MAKE BABY COOKIES!
I told Ryan, "no wonder he didn't want to taste it, I think that is the sickest description of steak I have heard of!"

The other day Ryan was getting dressed for work, and Austin was sitting in talking to him. This is how the conversation went...

Austin: Dad, you going to work??
Dad: Yep, I have to go to work today.
Austin: To make the cheese for mom??

SO apparently Ryan works very hard, and instead of being paid money, he gets paid in cheese for me!

What we have been up too.....

The Petting Zoo. My camera died after 6 pictures, but you get the idea. Lots of farm animals.
Check out the 4 horned goat.

Close up of a cow. Mooo!

Austin and I have been having a lot of fun these past couple weeks. My long lost childhood friend Lindsay has moved back home and we have been living it up and catching up on lost time. Thanks for the fun times Lindsay and Jack!

BOYS WILL BE BOYS

This is what the "baby maggot or worm looked like...ewwww

My little naturalist with a poor worm, who I am afraid to announce didn't live long after this picture.....

What is it about little boys that makes them pre-disposed to love everything that creeps and crawls? In mud, and dirt?? Austin is the perfect example of this. I tell you, you give this boy a worm, and he has an instant toy, that keeps him company for hours.

Oh, and on Sunday we took him to the park. There were a whole bunch of acorns all over the ground and Austin was sooo excited, I tell you it was like Christmas morning. He collected a cup of them. He talked about them the whole way home and it didn't stop there. He actually was talking about them in his sleep. Well one of those acorns had a hole in it. I told him that it was because there was a worm living inside it. I was hoping that the said worm had already left his home, but to Austins enjoyment, and my horror, in the cup this morning was a small plump white maggot looking thing with a red head, pulsating around the cup. Of coarse, I was disgusted, and Austin was delighted. His exact words, " look mom! a cute little baby worm. Hold it mom, hold it." ummm yah right... I told him it looked like a maggot, so he said,"a tiny baby maggot, cute" I don't know about you, but I don't think there is anything cute about a maggot, even a tiny baby one. I let him poke at it for a good 10 min. then I quietly dumped it into the toilet, of coarse when Austin wasn't watching. When he noticed it was gone, and asked where it went, I told him it was sleeping with the fishes, in Davey Jones locker and that seemed to satisfy him.
So as gross as all this my seem, I love that my little boy is 100% little boy. I guess that saying is right, which is exactly why my blog is named what it is, Snakes and snails and puppy dog tails, that is what little boys are made of.

Another beauty.

Enjoying the view and the cool mountain stream.

Holding a friendly lizard.

T-Rex's relative. Don't think he likes it, do ya??

Hello down there....

So I just took these especially cute pictures off my camera and had to post them. Naturally I think I have the cutest kid on the earth, ( I am sure you feel the same about your own). So here are some really cute pictures of my Austin and some of the BEAUTIFUL scenery that we are so blessed to enjoy at our favorite place, The Cabin.
